Swift Sport ZC33S, spark plug replacement
We continue with the useful mini-guides for those who want to carry out the basic Suzuki Swift Sport servicing on their own, for the 2018-19 model with thermal engine.
In the first of these guides we explained how to make the engine oil replacement on the Suzuki Swift Sport in just 10 moves, explaining in detail all the accouterments you need to have.
In this second mini-guide, useful for carrying out the full service coupon for the Swift Sport independently, we will see all the steps that need to be taken to carry out the replacement of spark plugs.
Spark plugs in perfect condition ensure maximum efficiency of the ignition system and, consequently, the best engine performance in terms of both performance and fuel economy. Neglecting these important devices is not a good idea at all, and in this guide we explain. how to get to the spark plugs of the Swift Sport ZC33S to check their condition and replace them if necessary.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE TO PROCEED TO REPLACE spark plugs.
To proceed with the operation of checking and replacing the 4 spark plugs on the K14C engine of the Swift Sport you will need:
- an 8mm socket wrench
- a 10mm wrench
- an air compressor
- A torque wrench with 16mm socket (alternatively 16mm spark plug wrench)
- 4 NGK spark plugs code ILZKR7D8 (or compatible)
Now that you have all the materials at your disposal you are finally ready to carry out spark plug replacement on your car, follow the following step-by-step explanations and you will have no problems.
Procedure for replacing spark plugs
We can divide the whole operation into 4 main steps:
- Air filter box removal
- Removal of coils
- Removing and replacing spark plugs
- Reassembly of all components
Air filter box removal
To get to the air filter box, with its ducts, you will first have to remove the large rubber top guard that covers much of the engine. No tools are required to do this; you simply need to lift it with your hands until it comes out of its seats.
At this point, based on the figure above, you will need to:
- Loosen the highlighted clamp (8mm socket wrench).
- Disconnect the debimeter connector by pulling back the yellow tab and then pulling while pressing the black clip, remove the clamp that holds the debimeter sheath anchored to the filter housing
- Unscrew the two ball-head screws (10mm wrench)
- Remove the highlighted tube
- Disconnect the duct that brings air to the filter.
- Lift up and remove the entire filter holder box.
Removal of coils
- Disconnect the 4 connectors indicated
- Unscrew the 4 highlighted screws (10mm wrench)
Lift the 4 coils taking care not to mix them up
CANDLE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT.
- Blow with compressed air into the ducts that house the spark plugs to remove any residual dust
- Replace the spark plugs with 16mm wrench (tightening torque 18Nm), for those who do not have a torque wrench tighten the spark plugs by hand, once they reach the stop tighten with the wrench performing half a turn

REMOVAL OF ALL COMPONENTS.
- Reassemble the 4 coils with their screws and connectors
- Reassemble the filter case following the initial reverse procedure
